1. Main Hazards & Controls
1. Paint fumes / inhalation
Risk: health issues, dizziness, respiratory irritation
Control measures:
adequate ventilation (open windows / extraction)
use of respirators (FFP3 / suitable masks)
low-VOC paints where possible
limit exposure time
2. Overspray / contamination
Risk: damage to property, floors, furniture, vehicles
Control measures:
full masking (floors, windows, fixtures)
use of protective sheeting and tape
controlled spray zones
warning signs / restricted access
3. Fire hazard (flammable materials)
Risk: fire, explosion (especially solvent-based paints)
Control measures:
no smoking policy on site
safe storage of paints and thinners
keep away from ignition sources
fire extinguisher available where required
4. Working at height (walls, ceilings, facades)
Risk: falls, serious injury
Control measures:
use of proper ladders / scaffolding
equipment inspection before use
stable positioning
compliance with Work at Height Regulations 2005
5. Electrical hazards
Risk: electric shock (equipment, cables, damp conditions)
Control measures:
110V tools where possible
PAT tested equipment
avoid wet environments
safe cable management
6. High-pressure injection injury (airless spray)

trained operators only
never point gun at body

8. Noise exposure
